Keep your olive oil fresh and tasty
Kakariki Olives’ New Zealand Extra Virgin olive oil is the very best – grassy, fresh, peppery, and full of flavour. But in order for it to stay this way, it needs you to take care of it.
Here are 4 simple tips to keep your oil tasting amazing:
- Keep it cool and dark: Store your oil in a cupboard or pantry, away from heat and sunlight.
- Use a dark bottle: Dark glass protects the oil from light. This is very important – we don’t recommend that you buy oil that is in a clear bottle.
- Seal it properly: Always put the cap back on tightly. Air can change the flavour and make the oil go off much faster.
- Buy only what you’ll use soon: Only buy enough for the next 3–6 months to make sure your oil stays fresh and delicious.
EXTRA TIP 1: Avoid the fridge unless you really have to. Olive oil can get cloudy and thick when cold, but it returns to normal at room temperature.
EXTRA TIP 2: At our House we have our oil beside the stove in a stainless cruet, these are a game changer. They keep 100% of the light out and are airtight – check out IPAC Italy Olive Oil Belly Cruet 500ml >
Our olive oils are made with care and a lot of hard work, we want you to get the very best out of them.
